Letterways privacy policy
Effective September 14, 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes how the Letterways developer (“we”, “us” or “our”) processes personal information through the Letterways app, this website and support correspondence (together, the “Service”).
Letterways version 1.0 works offline. The app does not send gameplay, progress, settings or device identifiers to us. It has no accounts, advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs.
Personal information we collect
Information you provide. If you contact us, we receive your email address, any name included in your message, and the questions, feedback or other information you choose to send. We use this communications data as described below.
The app’s report screen prepares a puzzle ID and version, issue category, optional word and your message. Sharing opens an app you choose; Letterways does not send the report automatically or confirm delivery. We receive a report only if you send it to us.
Website requests. Our hosting provider processes technical request information, such as your IP address, browser information and requested URL, to deliver and protect this website.
Data that stays on your device. Letterways saves puzzle progress, practice progress, preferences and issue-report drafts locally. We do not receive this data through the app. It may be included in Apple device backups according to your settings; we cannot access those backups.
Tracking and other technologies
We have not added advertising cookies, analytics scripts, tracking pixels or a contact form to this website. The app uses local storage for gameplay and preferences, not cross-app tracking. Hosting security features may process technical request data to protect the website.
How we use your personal information
Service delivery and operations. We use support correspondence to respond to your requests, questions and feedback, investigate reported problems and improve the app. Technical website information is processed to deliver the website and maintain its security.
Compliance and protection. Where necessary, we may use information to comply with applicable laws, lawful requests and legal process; protect our or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property; and prevent or investigate unlawful activity.
We do not use personal information for advertising or sell it to others.
Retention
We generally retain personal information to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to address the request and meet applicable legal or recordkeeping obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete it, subject to any required retention. Technical request information is subject to our hosting provider’s operational retention practices.
How we share your personal information
Service providers. Providers that help deliver the website and handle email process the information needed to provide those services.
Authorities and others. We may disclose information where necessary to comply with applicable law or legal process, or for the compliance and protection purposes described above. We do not share personal information for targeted advertising.
Your choices and privacy rights
Local app data. Delete Letterways to remove its local data. Offloading the app preserves that data. Manage backup copies through your Apple backup settings. There is no Letterways account or developer-held cloud gameplay profile to delete.
Support correspondence. You can use the app without contacting us. If you do contact us, send only information needed to explain your request. You may ask us to access, correct or delete correspondence you have sent by emailing support@letterways.app.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to receive a copy of personal information, request its transfer, restrict or object to processing, and appeal a denied request. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We will respond as required by applicable law and explain any limitation or refusal. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Additional information for European users
Where European Economic Area or UK data protection law applies, the Letterways developer is responsible as controller for the personal information covered by this policy. Our legitimate interests in answering support requests, fixing problems and protecting the Service are the legal basis for those activities, subject to your rights and interests. Processing required by law is based on the relevant legal obligation. Where consent is required, we rely on that consent.
You may exercise the applicable rights described above and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not use personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Other sites and services
The Service may contain links to websites or applications operated by third parties. When you choose an email or sharing app, that provider handles your message under its own privacy policy. We do not control those services. Please read the privacy policies of the services you use.
Security and international processing
No internet service or method of storing information can guarantee complete security. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information in support messages.
Our hosting and email providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ. Applicable data protection requirements continue to apply to our handling of that information.
Children
The offline app does not automatically send personal information to us, including when used by children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information that should not have been collected, please contact us. We will address the request and delete information where required by applicable law.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will publish the revised policy here and update its effective date. If a later app version introduces online features or changes how information is handled, the policy will describe those changes. Where required, we will provide additional notice.
